Dani Olmo still believes in the Barcelona project and is ready to abandon the interest of the two Manchester clubs, according to his agent, Andy Parra.
Olmo's temporary registration with financially struggling Barcelona expired on December 31, and Spanish League rules stipulate that a player cannot be registered twice in the same season.
Barcelona have sued the governing body, deeming La Liga “incompetent” – but have so far failed to overturn the ruling.
It leaves Olmo in limbo, but although he is technically eligible to leave on a free transfer, Parra insists the Spain international is committed to the Blaugrana.
He told Give Me Sport: “Dani is a Barcelona player and wants to become a Barcelona player. He has made a lot of effort in his life to be at Barcelona. It has been his desire for a long time.
“Barcelona is the first and last choice! Dani, his father, his family, and I are not considering other options.
New year, new challenges.
Let's have 2025. 💪🔵🔴– FC Barcelona (@FCBarcelona) January 1, 2025
Local boy Olmo only has eyes on Barcelona
Olmo was born in the Catalan city of Terrassa, and Parra says there is an emotional connection to Barcelona.
“We never made any career decision for the money,” he said. Dani plays football because he loves the game, he has worked hard to be at Barcelona.
“I'm also happy to have Dani at Barcelona, he is one of the best players in the world at one of the biggest clubs in the world.
“They made a great effort to bring Dani last summer. We love their project, it is a big project for the future, and one of the best projects in the world in the coming years. We fully believe that Barcelona will win all the titles in the future as they did during the (Lionel) Messi era. The player, “The family, I, we all wanted Dani to be at Barcelona.”
There is no interest in a Manchester move
Olmo has been linked to both Manchester clubs but Parra believes Barcelona and La Liga will find common ground and find a solution.
“To be honest, I feel calm,” Parra said.
“It may seem strange but I trust President (Juan) Laporta and Deco and I feel they will find a solution for Dani.” It's a huge club.
“I think Barcelona will finish everything and achieve it.
“La Liga should help them, instead of these reports that Dani is not available for the national team, but I am sure he will stay at Barcelona for many years. He is happy at the club and Dani has the desire to be there.”
Unless the matter is resolved quickly, Olmo will not play any role in tomorrow's Copa del Rey match against Barbastro or the Spanish Super Cup semi-final with Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday.
