Syrians raised peace signs, waved flags and danced in a march in central Aleppo to celebrate the end of the Assad regime.
Massive marches took place across the country to mark the end of five decades of authoritarian rule, after former President Bashar al-Assad fled to Russia.
Aleppo witnessed fierce fighting between the opposition and government forces during the civil war and was destroyed.
Earlier this month it became the first major city to be captured by Islamist-led rebels.
