According to an obituary published by Lacy Funeral Home, the actor and writer died on Thursday, December 19, 2024, in Eastland, Texas. The cause of death was not mentioned.
Furness played Griffin in the medical drama, which was preparing to begin production on its second season this month. After his death, Great American Media issued a statement honoring Fornes: “We at Great American Media are deeply saddened by the passing of Kyler Fornes. He was a remarkable and gifted individual as an actor, writer, director, singer and musician. Furness posted on Instagram on December 14, just five days before his death, sharing behind-the-scenes footage and memories with his family.
According to his obituary, Forness grew up in Texas and earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts from the University of North Texas. He was described by his loved ones as an artist, with talents in painting, drawing, singing and playing the guitar in addition to acting, writing and producing his own independent films.
Furness has written and directed several short films, including the 2019 documentary The friend I never met, As well as appearing in independent films including Annie in the City, Monster Monster, Electronic Guardians: Back to Life on Track and The secrets you keep. He also played a tower soldier in a 2022 episode of the TV series The walking dead.
He also achieved success as a personal trainer, winning medals in boxing.
