Concerns about beachgoers reserving spaces with mobile cabins are causing a stir in Australia.

“One of the great things about Australia is, unlike some parts of the world, (where) you go and you have to pay to go to the beach, here, everyone owns the beach,” Albanese said.

He added: “It's a place where all Australians are equal. It's a violation of that principle, really, to think you can reserve a little place just for yourself.”

“I can see a law being drafted soon,” one X user said.

“Because there are no bigger problems in Australia than beach etiquette,” one joked.

“Everyone owns the beach…that's what we grew up believing in,” said one of the women on board X.

Australia's beaches are public and considered 'Crown Land' – allowing Australians to visit any beach area they wish.

The New South Wales (NSW) Government states on its website that “Crown land is land held by the NSW Government on behalf of the public, for the benefit of the community.”

Some users on X opened the discussion to discuss ownership of beaches.

“When will someone in this country sense common sense and allow private companies to build beach clubs on small portions of the beach,” one X user stated.

Adding: “Almost all the other beaches the world “At least there's someone who rents beach chairs, but in Australia, nothing.”
