As Americans flock to the nation's capital for President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority (WMATA) has issued a special public transit pass to honor the event.
The “SmarTrip Inauguration Commemorative Card” is a reloadable fare card that can hold up to $300 of stored value for public transportation in the city, according to WMATA's website.

WMATA noted that the tickets were sold out at the MetroCenter station.
In 2017, WMATA issued a public inauguration card with a sleeve bearing Trump's face.
A WMATA spokesperson told Fox News Digital: “We have issued several special edition cards since 1993, with the exception of 2021 due to the inauguration being a virtual event due to… The epidemic“.

On eBay, some people are listing the card for around $20, while one seller listed one card with a starting bid of $450, or “best offer.”

Barack Obama Metro cards from Inauguration Day 2009 are also listed in eBay auctions — with prices ranging from $500 to $1,000.

Visitors to the region can stay in destinations outside the region in metro stations, Kristin Petersen, a travel consultant at Travelmation, told Fox News Digital.
