Former Forest and Liverpool player Stan Collymore has suggested the Reds could have their title ambitions derailed by Nuno Espirito Santo and his reckless squad.
The Premier League clubs will be competing again next Tuesday, and after Forest's first win at Anfield in decades earlier in the season, Arne Slott will certainly not be taking anything for granted.
previously Nuno was hailed as an idealist of the jungleand his results continue to show that he has certainly found a home where his goals align with those of his team.
Nuno Espirito Santo shows his mettle at Forest
with Slot sending warnings to his team Liverpool In terms of the individual form of some players, it seems clear that the Reds have concerns behind the scenes if they want to continue at the top of the Premier League.
There's no real worry at the moment of course given Liverpool have a six-point lead over their nearest rivals, which could rise to nine points if they have a game in hand.
However, complacency will become their enemy if teams start to beat them, and the draw against Manchester United and then their Carabao Cup defeat to Tottenham showed signs that Slot's side are not exactly triumphant.
“I'm very pleased that two of the clubs I used to play for, one of which I left to go to the other, will go head-to-head in what could be a huge game in terms of where the title might end up,” Collymore told CaughtOffside. for him Exclusive column.
“Although it's not a big surprise with Liverpool, it was a surprise with Forest, and I think what Nuno Espirito Santo has made them do week after week is get back to what football is about.
“Defend your half and your own box, get a foothold in the game and then take the teams out.
Can Nuno Espirito beat Arne Slott again?
“They embarrass every one of Pep's followers, the managers like Russell Martin who thought that just by coming out and playing from the back they could do something in the Premier League.
“(…) No one would have expected this to come with Forest, and I don’t think anyone would have looked at the group of players they have and said they were going to be anything else, at best, a mid-table team.
“They might end up in mid-table, who knows, but I think when we are in this season and where they are, we can say Nuno has revamped his career.
“(…) There are 1,000 ways to skin a cat, and at the moment, Forest are skinning that cat. It's been a sheer pleasure to see their style, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if they skin a liver bird next Tuesday as well in what is sure to be a Difficult.
With 18 matches remaining in the season, there is plenty of time for the Premier League schedule to take on a completely different shape.
However, Nuno and his Forest team have proven beyond doubt that they have what it takes to keep going.
The Portuguese, who were economical in their desire to attack, clearly took the path of “simplicity is genius.”
Forrest doesn't try to be anything he's not, and does what he's best very well.
With the clear buying in from the players, it certainly makes them a threat as we enter the second half of the 2024/25 season.
