CNN contributors Scott Jennings and Bakari Sellers debated President-elect Donald Trump's claims that he would bring him down. Grocery prices rise to consumers on CNN on Thursday, where Jennings at one point warned Sellers not to touch him.
“During the campaign Donald Trump Sellers said he would lower prices and called Trump's comments a “lie.”
“One of the things we know is that Scott was 50 percent right, and Democrats didn't do a good job of telling our story,” Sellers said. “We did not do a good job of addressing the pain that Americans felt.”
“One of the mistakes we made throughout the Biden presidency was to say that inflation was temporary,” Sellers continued. “Those things were not accurate because there were people who were feeling the pain of the price of eggs.”
“Unless Scott's being picky about it, which is the kind that happens around the table sometimes, though I know you want to be,” Sellers continued, reaching out to touch Scott on the arm.
“Don't touch me,” Jennings told Sellers, laughing, patting him on the back, prompting CNN anchor Abby Phillippe to respond.
“All right, everyone keep their hands to themselves at the table,” Philip said.
It wasn't clear if Jennings was actually angry, but he wasn't smiling when the camera cut to him.
Sellers continued to debate the Biden administration's role in reducing inflation, especially in the grocery store.
“These are not Joe Biden’s policies,” Sellers said.
Donald Trump says this is why he won the presidential election last month
“Yes, it is,” Jennings replied. “Of course it is.”
“Of course it is not,” Sellers said, noting that inflation was caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. “Do you know what happened around the world? There was a rise in inflation around the world. Do you know who took up this issue? Joe Biden took up this issue.”
“One of the things that Scott was right about again is that Democrats didn’t call it: ‘This is Trump inflation,’” Sellers said.

Trump: “I won on the border, and I won on groceries.” He said in an interview On NBC News' “Meet the Press.”
“Very simple word, grocery. Almost like – you know, who uses the word? I started using the word – grocery. When you buy apples, when you buy bacon, when you buy eggs, they double, triple the price. And they're going to double and triple the price,” Trump said. “Within a short period of time, I won the election based on that.”
