Ange Postecoglou has jumped to Cristian Romero's defense after the defender made critical comments towards the Tottenham board following the north London club's defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.
The Argentine star returned from a toe injury against the Blues, but his return was short-lived as the centre-back was forced to leave the field due to another fitness issue after just 15 minutes – Romero is expected to be out for six weeks.
Things got worse for the defender as his team squandered a 2-0 lead over Chelsea, suffering a 4-3 defeat.
Following the loss, Romero spoke to a Spanish channel Telemundo Sports The 26-year-old criticized Daniel Levy and the rest of the Tottenham board for their lack of spending compared to their rivals.
“The last few years, it's always the same – first the players change, then the coaching staff changes, and it's always the same people in charge,” the Tottenham star said via Twitter. espn. “I hope they realize who are really responsible, as we move forward because it is a beautiful club that, with its structure, can easily compete for the title every year.”
