BEIJING (Reuters) – China will expand home appliance trade this year to 12 categories from the eight categories listed last year, the deputy head of the country's government planning agency said on Wednesday.
Zhao Zhenxin, vice chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, said consumers will receive subsidies equivalent to 20% of the selling price of each new home appliance this year.
Zhao said support will also continue for the purchase of residential furnishings and the trade of electric bicycles.
According to the document issued by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, microwave ovens, water purifiers, dishwashers and rice cookers will be included in the home appliance trade-in scheme.
