Grubhub released its annual year-end report on… Food trends of US consumers, analyzing orders placed throughout 2024.
The report noted that chicken was the highest protein in 2024, espresso orders rose in the summer and hot honey was a popular choice at the grocery store this year.
The data breaks down the applications submitted to companies Like restaurantsGrocery stores and convenience stores are delivered to customers at home, work, college campuses and hotel rooms, among other places.

The new report “highlighted the undeniable influence of social media and popular culture on the foods we crave and order,” Grubhub spokesman Christopher Kreutler told Fox News Digital.
Protein is very popular
Protein was popular in 2024 – and chicken was the leader.
Chicken was included in nearly 40% of all Grubhub restaurant orders, and poultry was a portion of Grubhub grocery store orders nearly three times as much as beef.
The extra protein was also a welcome addition to Chipotle's restaurant orders.
Grubhub's report revealed that 15% of all Chipotle orders included Double protein.

June was the first month to see a noticeable spike in demand — around the time people started baking cheese in the oven as part of a social media trend, Kreutler said.

Customers in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and Boston ordered the most cheese this year.

Americans seem to have a lot of love for espresso this year.

When it came to decaf coffee orders, Fordham University in New York led the way among the universities.
The top five were California State University Fullerton, University of Massachusetts Lowell, University of Illinois Chicago, and Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
