A wildfire that broke out in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles forced tens of thousands of people to evacuate after it gutted homes in the upscale area, including those owned by celebrities.
The Palisades Fire, caused by strong Santa Ana winds, started in the Santa Monica Mountains late Tuesday morning and quickly engulfed 200 acres within an hour, rising to nearly 3,000 acres by sunset. Fox Weather reported.
Orange County Fire Chief Brian Fennessy joined Fox News@Night on Tuesday to provide an update on how firefighters are battling the fast-moving blaze, but he said there's not much that can be done to stop it, so crews are focusing on evacuating and saving anyone. Still in the area.
“Our primary focus is to get people and life out of the way of these fires,” Fennessy said. “There's not much we can do other than get people out of the way of these fires and then try to attack them…And certainly in Palisades, that was the story today.”
Reality TV star Spencer Pratt and his wife Heidi Montag, who started dating in The Hills, have lost their home in Palisades firePratt and Montag confirmed their Snapchat accounts on Tuesday.
In a series of videos, Pratt showed how the fire quickly moved up the hill toward their home.
“Well, that doesn't look good,” Pratt said as he photographed the fire on the mountain behind their home. “First time I've seen the fire coming. Man. Well, I guess I'll go pack my bags.”
He later posted a video from his car saying he was watching their house burn on their security cameras.
Montag posted a video at the grocery store stating that their house actually burned down, but they were okay.
Actor Chris Pratt It was posted on X and he asked people to join him in praying for “the brave firefighters who sacrifice so much to save our homes and our city.”
“Jesus protects the lives of those fighting the fire and the lives of those who were unable to evacuate,” Pratt wrote.

Actress Denise Crosby, also in a post on X, said she is safe with her husband and dog, but is unsure if she has a home.
Crosby shared a video from the beach Tuesday night and followed that post with videos from earlier in the day showing smoke near an alley behind her home and from Sunset Boulevard.
Actor James Woods posted a series of videos on X showing his home and his neighbors' homes surrounded by smoke and flames. Woods said his family was evacuated from the area safely, and he praised first responders and community members for evacuating children from elementary schools. Inside the neighborhood.
“To all the wonderful people who reached out, thank you for your extreme concern. Just to let you know we were able to evacuate successfully,” Woods wrote on X. “I don’t know at this moment whether or not our house is still standing, but unfortunately the houses in our small street are not.”
Professional dancer Derek Hough shared photos of the fire on his Instagram account, and said that he and his wife were preparing to evacuate with their pets.
“The winds are gusting up to 100 mph, and we are packing up and preparing to evacuate with our five animals just in case,” Hogue wrote. “It's scary to have power lines blowing up around us and fires spreading so quickly.”

Hough continued his post by thanking firefighters for “risking everything to keep us safe,” and said he was sending prayers and love to all the firefighters and victims.
