Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is said to be considering his options with a move to the Saudi Professional League likely this month.

Brazilian outlet UOL claim the 32-year-old is open to leaving Old Trafford in January amid interest from six Saudi sides.

Al-Hilal, Al-Nasr, Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahly, Al-Ittifaq and Al-Qadisiyah clubs are monitoring the former Real Madrid player, according to UOL.

It is believed that Al-Nasr will be the most suitable candidate to secure Casemiro's services, and the Brazilian's transfer will be a reunion with his former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.

The outlet also claims that Casemiro is open to a move to Saudi Arabia and that there are “no major obstacles” standing in the way of a deal.

The news comes after criticism from many pundits of the midfielder's performance in United's 2-0 defeat to Newcastle on Monday.

Former Red Devil Gary Neville, who also targeted Christian Eriksen, said: “Casimiro and Eriksen don't have the legs to move.

“Casimiro and Eriksen shouldn't be playing together in the Premier League. It's too easy. When you saw Manchester United's starting lineup, you had to think it would be very difficult for this team to play well.

“The two central midfielders can't run. The back three have no legs. They were absolutely terrible. You're watching the worst team in the country.”

Earlier in the season, former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher praised Casemiro as a “great” player in modern football, but said his performance levels had declined and he should consider a move to the MLS or Saudi Arabia.

Carragher said: “I always remember something when I retired, there was a saying I always remember as a footballer, ‘Leave football before football leaves you’.

“Football has left him at this top level and he needs to finish his day at this level of football and get moving.”
