12. At the end of my racing career in 1998, I went to community college and was going to become an accountant. Then, I was asked to do my first freestyle motocross demo at the Warped Tour and FMX exploded that summer, (so) I dropped out to pursue FMX.
13. The proudest moment in my career is being a professional motocross rider – which is pretty old – and a custom motorcycle builder. The fact that I'm still getting paid to ride a motorcycle 31 years after turning professional still amazes me.
14. My most valuable possession is the original bike I rode when I did my first backflip in 2000 at the Gravity Games. I rode the same bike the next year when I had a terrible accident during my second round at the X Games. After I recovered from the accident, I replaced the broken parts, and parked the bike. It has sat on the mantle in my living room for a few years. Now, it's hanging upside down from the ceiling beams in my shop where I build Indian motorcycles.
15. Movies I can watch for the rest of my life are Breakfast Club, Rocket man and Popstar.
16. The three items I can't leave the house without are my wallet, pocket knife, and hat.
17. The Face to Face song “Disconnected” reminds me of traveling the country in my truck, chasing the Supercross and Motocross series from 1995 to 1998. I would sleep in my truck four to five nights a week and couchsurf across the country for 30 days. Weeks. I didn't have two quarters to rub together, but it was a pretty good time.
18. I was really good at maths at school, but I have dyslexia and had trouble reading early on. I still find it difficult to read out loud.
19. My first job was taping and finishing drywall when I was 12 for friends in the construction industry. He wanted to show me that I needed to make money with my motorcycle or with my mind.
