California officials on Tuesday announced the presence of certain residents Palisades fire Evacuation zones will be allowed to return home, as the Los Angeles Police Department enhances security measures to address looting incidents.
Areas C-111A, C-112B and U-030B, near Malibu, reopened to residents Tuesday afternoon, with a drive-thru requirement. Malibu checkpointaccording to the Los Angeles County Police Department.
The operation comes after the administration announced that it was enhancing operations in Altadena Eaton fire Burn area to support recovery and ensure community safety.
Officials said they were intensifying their efforts and “strategically” shifting operations from strictly enforced containment measures to community support.
The administration said it is prioritizing the safety and recovery of residents as they begin to return to their homes and neighborhoods, and announced the establishment of a specialized center.Suppression of looting a team.”
“This dedicated unit is composed of individuals drawn from multiple LASD departments, each bringing specialized expertise to combat looting and other criminal activity that can arise in times of community vulnerability,” according to a statement from the department.
Officials noted that the team will work with additional deputies assigned to increase patrol operations.
The agency's AERO office will conduct air patrols, provide enhanced surveillance and rapid response capabilities to ensure comprehensive coverage of the affected areas, the statement said.
“Together, these efforts ensure continuous 24-hour patrols to provide consistent and clear surveillance Law enforcement “Being there, especially in neighborhoods that continue to suffer from utility outages and increased security risks,” officials said.
Los Angeles County's curfew order remains in effect, but is limited to areas under active evacuation orders, according to the agency. People subject to evacuation warnings are no longer subject to restrictions.
