Arsenal's struggling title challenge continues due to a lack of goals from their striker, and this ensures that the Gunners will try to enter the January transfer market to land Brentford's shot, Brian Mbeumo.
The Cameroon international has scored 13 goals and three assists in the Bees' first 20 matches of the 2024/25 season (Transportation market), meaning it is almost certain that Thomas Frank will not appreciate losing another quality striker so soon after Ivan Toney leaves the club.
Brian Mbeumu is the subject of interest in the Premier League
In fact, Frank is understood to have stated that the chances of Mbeumo transferring this month are very low.
However, the Dane will understand that if a big enough offer comes in, the club will find it very difficult to refuse.
This was suggested a few weeks ago Frank may replace Angie PostecoglouHowever, he remains in charge in west London and is certainly hoping his club can improve on their current 11th place finish.
In order to do that, they will certainly want to keep Mbeumo, although if he wants to move on, Brentford could turn to Nicholas Conewhom they were rumored to be interested in a few weeks ago.
“We will push to bring him in” – Arsenal are desperate to sign the striker
According to sources familiar with the Gunners' January transfer plans, Mbeumo has been identified as Mikel Arteta's need to cover following Bukayo Saka's injury and the poor performances of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.
Brentford want Brian Mbeumo to stay
However, the north Londoners may not have things their way, with sources also reporting that Newcastle United, Manchester United and Liverpool have also shown an interest in the 25-year-old.
The Red Devils can only consider making a bid for Mbomo in January if they can make a profit from selling players.
It is clear that Brentford want the player to remain at the club until at least the end of the current season and only an exceptional offer will change the situation.
Mbeumo, who Brentford regard as an invaluable asset, is on a contract with the Bees that runs until 2026 and the club has the option to extend his stay by a further year.
