Heavyweight contender Justis Honey (12-0, 7 KOs) scored an easy second-round technical knockout of Sean Potgieter (10-2, 7 KOs) on Wednesday night on the undercard of Jay Opitaya vs. David Nyika at the Gold Coast Convention Centre, Broadbeach. , Queensland, Australia.

Displaying the power of Honey

Honey (25 years old) injured his South African opponent, Potgieter, with a right hand to the head in the second round. Then he fired several heavy shots, and referee Phil Austin intervened and stopped the match. The stoppage time was at 0:33 of the second round.

Australian Honey looked slow but powerful with his right hand. He didn't have to worry about anything coming back from Potgieter, which was lucky for him. It would be interesting to know why Potgieter chose Honey because he didn't look good and looked old.

Honey really struggled to beat Kevin Lerena last year in March and was on top of it throughout the 10-round fight. He barely won that fight. Tonight was more about giving Honey a softer opponent so he could look good.

It's too early to tell how far Honey can go in the sport. He has to rank high enough for a world title to earn a good payday. He doesn't look ready to fight the big dogs in the division, like IBF champion Daniel Dubois.

“The more active you are, the better you will become. “I have some injuries that I have to take care of, but as soon as possible, I will be back in the ring,” Justis Honey told DAZN Following his second-round knockout of Sean Potgieter on Wednesday night.

“I'll leave it to my team. They've done a good job with me so far. I think I can go all the way.”

It would be nice to see Justice take on Moses Itauma. This will be a fun fight between two powerful punchers. They are both similar in the way they lunge forward with slow feet, and are easy to hit.

“This guy is almost there. You've got another potential heavyweight champion in Justis Honey. He's in the top 15 across three governing bodies,” said Eddie Hearn. “The strength and conditioning team have done a fantastic job. The speed is back.

“The confidence is back. As he said, he is recovering from a minor injury. You will see him again in a few months. 2025 is huge for Justis Hone.”
