The lawyers of the actors, Justin Baldoni, and Blake Levli, spent their first day in the court in the tranquility of sexual harassment and other allegations that broke out about their movie, as it ends in us.
In December, Levli filed a legal complaint against Baldouni, accusing him of sexual harassment and starting a distortion campaign against it. In the past, she denied her claims, in response to this, she filed a lawsuit on different land, including defamation.
The stars participating in the film were not asked to attend the pre -trial meeting at the Federal Court in Manhattan on Monday.
But an hour and a half session still heats it, as the lawyers claimed to each side that the other was controlling their customers outside the court.
“The case is supposed to be resolved here in the court,” Michael Gottliebeer told Livi Luis Luis Lieman. “It is not supposed to be resolved in the press.”
Mr. Gotlal, Balouni's lawyer, Brian Friedman, was accused of introducing “external external comments” about “Levli's personality and motives” during the manifestations of news channels.
In response, Mr. Friedman said that Mr. Gotlal was trying to impose a “gag something” preventing him from speaking to the media. He said that he was the one who suffered from his reputation.
“My client is a financially destructive and emotional,” Mr. Friedman told the court.
Based on a selling novel written by Colin Hoover, it ends with us, the box office after its release in August. But despite its financial success, rumors of a bitter dispute began between Baldouni and Leville revolving before the film was released.
Judge Leman said in the court on Monday that both sides in the legal battles “gave the public a lot to address it.”
He said that if the matter ended in the press, he may have to raise the date of a trial in March 2026 so that the jury would not be biased against any of the defendants.
The judge also said that he will adopt a measure of the New York Bar Association – Qaeda 3.6 – Permits from public data that could affect the result of the trial.
The Monday's session came after it filed a modified complaint against Livly, which included a “schedule” of 168 events in the case. Its team also launched a website with the new complaint as well as other videos available to the audience and text messages surrounding the case.
Lavelli's lawyer attended the court website on Monday. “Who created the site?” Mr. Gottlieb asked. “Who funded it?”
Mr. Gotlal also assumed a problem with Baldoni that Baldoni launched a romantic scene in it, which says Lively's allegations of sexual harassment are unfounded.
But Levli responded by saying that the husband's footage to photograph a slow “cursed” dance scene and supports her claims.
On Monday, the Levli team pledged to file its own modified complaint, which will include more people in the case.
Many other parties are already involved in legal drama. Baldoni sued the New York Times for the defamation, claiming that his co -star gave the outlet to civil rights complaint. The Times was the first story to be published last December. The New York Times denied these allegations.
Many public relations companies that worked with Baldoni and Lively during their movie are also accused in the case.
Judge Leman said on Monday that some of these matters will be dealt with in a separate trial after Livly and Baladouni.
He also said that the legal teams in the inferiority and Lively will need to agree to a preventive matter, a legal document that raises the persons involved in the case from another person accused of abuse or harassment.
Judge Lehman said that such a matter is necessary, because of the “large number of prominent individuals” in the case and “the nature of allegations.”
During the session, a lawyer also pressed the judge to adhere to the pre -trial schedule suggested by both sides, saying that his client wants to file the case “as soon as possible.”
Judge Leman agreed to the request of a lawyer, with some small changes in the schedule.
“A time will come when the jury will talk about this case,” Judge Lean said to the court.
