Belichick, 72, was announced as the new head coach at the University of North Carolina on December 12. Since then, Belichick said he has become very popular on social media.
“We've had a lot of guys call us wanting to come to Carolina,” Belichick said Monday, Dec. 30, on ESPN. Pat McAfee Show. “My Instagram has been busy. Scrolling through that. I never thought I'd say that.”
“But I'm here,” Belichick continued. “Joining the 21st century.”

Belichick explained that the school will host potential recruits on campus during the weekends of January 4-11.
“It's been fun, it's been good,” he said of the experience so far. “I really enjoyed it. “The school was great.”
Belichick added: “A lot of good players want to come to Carolina, and that's a good thing. If you see good ones, send them to us.”
McAfee, 37, laughed, but the former Indianapolis Colts player was still stuck on the fact that the notorious old-school Belichick was using social media to his advantage.
“I can't wait to see who the North Carolina Tar Heels end up with under your watch there,” McAfee said. “I think this is something a lot of people will be excited about. I can't believe you're using SnapFace and MyFace DMs now to communicate with people who are potentially in the transfer portal, but I love it.”
While he was busy answering all of his direct messages, Belichick was also a fixture on his 24-year-old girlfriend's Instagram feed, Gordon Hudson.

Belichick's tenure as head coach at UNC will officially begin when spring practice begins in April.
