Kuldeep's return is a big boost to India's chances ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He is India's number one bowler in the white-ball format and is also the number one player in the playing XI for the team.

Kuldeep Yadav resumes his bowling in the nets

Kuldeep Yadav started bowling in the nets after the surgery. The wrist spinner was slow in his approach but gained rhythm as he threw more. He posted a story on his Instagram account in which he was seen bowling in the nets. He is likely currently in Kanpur with his childhood coach Kapil Panday.

Kuldeep suffered a thigh injury during the home Test in India series against New Zealand and was ruled out of the final two Tests of the series. He underwent surgery in Germany and is believed to have gone well.

Post the surgery, he underwent rehabilitation at BCCI's Center of Excellence in Bengaluru where he focused more on leg exercises to build his strength. NCA officials did their best to prepare him for the upcoming Champions Cup.

While he is yet to get a clean chit from the National Cricket Academy, Kuldeep has started bowling in the nets to get into a bowling rhythm. He will look to regain more strength in the coming days and start bowling to his full potential.

Kapil Panday talks about Kuldeep Yadav's return

A few days ago, Kuldeep Yadav's childhood coach Kapil Panday revealed his injury status and claimed that he can start bowling soon. Panday stated that Kuldeep will visit his hometown Kanpur and start bowling. They will both make other plans accordingly.

“This month itself he should start bowling. I am quite confident. He will be here (in Kanpur) by next week and then we will make more plans. It may be a little early to predict Kuldeep's return as he will resume bowling first and then have to start,” Kapil Panday said. “He has to play a training match or two while he undergoes tests and other operations.”

Kuldeep Yadav last played an ODI during India's away series in Sri Lanka where he took 4 wickets in three matches at an average of 25.50 and an economy rate of 3.40. The left-arm pacer is India's leading pacer in ODI cricket which makes him crucial in the Champions Trophy.

Kuldeep Yadav in ODI World Cup 2023

Kuldeep also played in the 2023 ODI World Cup and was India's number one player in the tournament. He took 15 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 28.26 and played a key role in India's path to the final.

The 30-year-old has played 106 ODI matches so far and taken 172 wickets at an average of 26. With less than two months to go until the 2025 Champions Trophy, Kuldeep will look to make a comeback in the previous ODI series against England.
