President Joe Biden on Monday preemptively pardoned several family members, citing concerns that they would be targeted by “baseless and politically motivated investigations.”
The White House announced the pardon just minutes before President-elect Donald Trump entered the Capitol hall to be sworn in as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
