David Benavidez remains convinced he's got David Morrell “sacred” From him because of the strong push he gave him during their confrontation in the media exercise on December 17 to promote their fight on February 1.

The “Mexican Monster” uses fear to promote the fight, and talks about it often in his interviews, saying he sees it in Morel.

This focus on fear is meaningless because it will not stop Morell from throwing punches on February 1st. You can tell by looking at Benavidez that he is worried about this fight. There are millions at stake for him.

Benavidez's projection of fear

Morel fought a two-time Cuban gold medalist Julio Cesar La CruzHe didn't seem afraid. This guy is a better fighter than Benavidez by a mile.

It seems important to him that Muriel is afraid. If Benavidez believed in himself, he wouldn't have focused so much on seeing fear in the Cuban. The fact that he didn't want to fight Morel for two straight years is an indication that it was him who was living in fear.

“I made him afraid. I know for sure he's 100 percent afraid of me. I'm going to beat him to the punch on February 1,” David Benavidez told Bet On Yourself. YouTube A channel that talks about David Morrell.

“If I had been able to roll with my punches, I would have taken that guy out of there,” Benavidez said of his most recent opponent, Oleksandr Gvozdyk, whom he beat last year on June 15. “That's a big part of why I'm doing this fight (winning the 'regular' light heavyweight title from Morrell).

“Also, another part is that I have to go out there and silence this guy. I have to show the world what I'm about, and I have to beat David Morell in front of everyone. If I beat the best of the best, the money will come. What matters to me is The respect you get from people, the money will come.”

The part about Benavidez not being able to sit on his punches sounds to some like he's making excuses to try to explain his poor performance against Gvozdyk. It would have been better if Benavidez stayed calm and admitted that he struggled in his first fight at 175 years old. Talking about injuries seems weak.

Benavidez does not appear to have been injured, but one can understand why his ailments were mentioned. He was terrible in that fight, which was supposed to be scored as a 12-round draw.

The judges gave the decision to Benavidez, but he 100% looked like he didn't do enough to win. So his mention of injuries is now always understandable. It's called “damage control.”

False bravado

“David Morell is a good fighter. Cuban boxing school, they're technical fighters. The thing about me is that I have a lot of experience. I've been in the ring with a lot of great champions, not just in fights but in sparring. I've got the dog in me,” he said. Benevides: “I just have to go there and activate it.”

And from the way the “Mexican Monster” talks, he'll try to outmaneuver Morell, hoping he can walk through his shots to knock him out or win a tough decision. Benavidez is tailored to Morell with his emphasis on combination punches, which will leave him wide open to Cuban counter punches.

This is a risky way to fight Morell because he is not an old, undersized fighter like many of the guys Benavidez defeated when he was campaigning at 168 against smaller guys.
