Jude Bellingham scored for the fifth successive La Liga match as Real Madrid bounced back from a midweek defeat to beat Girona.

Bellingham, Arda Guler and Kylian Mbappe all scored as Los Blancos beat Girona 3-0 at the Estadio Municipal de Montilivi on Saturday.

The 21-year-old English midfielder became the first Real Madrid player since Karim Benzema in 2021 to score in five league matches in a row.

Bellingham had never scored before this season before the recent string of goals.

Real's number five player opened the scoring in the 36th minute before setting up his team's second goal for Guler after the break.

Bellingham then had to be replaced by Dani Ceballos after suffering a knock.

Real added the third goal when Kylian Mbappe scored his ninth goal in the Spanish League after a pass from Luka Modric.

The result comes just three days after Real Madrid lost 2-1 to in-form Athletic Club, leaving Carlo Ancelotti's side two points behind leaders Barcelona with a game in hand.

Real's Catalan rivals tied with Real Betis 2-2 earlier in the day. Robert Lewandowski scored his 23rd goal in 21 club matches this season, but it was not enough to prevent Barcelona from dropping points for the fourth time in five La Liga matches.

Lewandowski scored in the 39th minute at the Benito Villamarín Stadium before Giovani Lo Celso equalized from a penalty kick in the 68th minute after Frenkie de Jong was sent off for obstructing his former Barcelona teammate Vitor Roque.

Ferran Torres restored the visitors' lead but Betis scored an equalizer in the 94th minute thanks to Assane Diaw to secure a 2-2 draw.

Real Madrid will host Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday, while Barcelona will host Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.
