Barcelona confirmed on Tuesday that it had made another attempt to re-register players Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.

The Catalan giants announced that they had submitted applications for Olmo and Victor to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) just hours before the midnight registration deadline.

Barcelona also denied allegations of requesting any delay from the governing bodies for their registrations.

The club said in a short statement: “Barcelona informs that it has applied for a new license for the players Daniel Olmo and Pau Victor to the Spanish Football Federation.

“The club would like to deny that it has sought or received any comment from any governing body for these recordings.”

Barcelona on Monday lost its second player registration appeal for the remainder of the season with the club unable to meet La Liga's wage cap.

Should the 27-time league winners fail in their final attempt, Olmo and Victor will be free agents after the deadline.

However, they can meet the economic requirements to sign both players before the transfer window closes in February, but according to RFA rules, a player cannot be signed by the same club twice in the same season.

Olmo, who featured prominently for Spain during their Euro 2024 win in the summer, has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave if the club fails to sign him.

Barcelona signed the 26-year-old attacking midfielder in August from RB Leipzig for around £45m, but he was only registered for the first half of the season.

The club was able to initially register both Olmo and Victor due to long-term injuries to first-team players, allowing Barcelona, according to La Liga rules, to use up to 80% of a player's salary temporarily on a replacement in the event of an injury. .

However, due to a delay in his La Liga registration due to Barcelona's ongoing financial difficulties, Olmo missed the opening two matches of the season.

The current situation with Olmo and Victor is another chapter in the club's ongoing financial saga as they continue to flout La Liga's financial rules.

Leading Catalan newspaper El Mundo Deportivo claim that the club have already explored other ways to raise revenue that would boost their hopes of being able to re-register players, which includes selling VIP seats at the refurbished Camp Nou stadium.
