The fourth Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test between Australia and India is scheduled to begin on Thursday, December 26 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Before the next test, hosts Australia He conducted an optional training session on Monday (December 23).

However, one of their key players was missing from Monday's grid session ahead of the Boxing Day Test. According to what was reported by the Sydney Morning Herald, the player who missed the net session was none other than… Travis Head.

There were talks of the powerful batsman being doubtful for the 2024-25 fourth BGT Test immediately after the conclusion of the third Test at The Gabba. Head was seen limping while batting in the second innings of the previous Test and did not take to the field later either. However, the left-hander had earlier stated that he was experiencing a little pain and would be fine ahead of the Melbourne Test.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, a spokesman for the Australian team said that Monday's training session was optional. However, the home team will conduct their main training session on Tuesday (December 24). Head will have to prove his fitness in the main training session ahead of the fourth BGT 2024-25 Test, the spokesperson stated.

So, it remains to be seen whether Travis Head will be available for the upcoming Test or the hosts will have to part with one of their best players in the series so far.

Travis Head's exclusion could be a huge blow for Australia in the 2024-25 BGT

while India Winning the opening Test of the 2024-25 BGT in Perth by 295 runs, Australia cruised to a dominant 10-wicket win in Adelaide. The third Test has been played in Brisbane and the series is hanging in the balance (1-1) at the moment.

Australia, who are keen to get BGT back as it has eluded them for some time now, certainly won't want to miss out on Travis Head. Not only was he the main performer, but he was also the highest paid player of the series so far.

Head has already smashed 409 runs from three matches and five innings at an average of 81.80 with a few hundreds and half-centuries. He is in great shape and has been a consistent performer throughout the series. The left-hander has proven to be difficult for India to bat against, and if he misses the rest of the series, or even just the Melbourne Test, it could be a huge blow for the hosts.
