Football can be an unforgivingly unpredictable game, but there is still room for some unexpected successes.

When a trial match was organized in a small Egyptian village for scouts to get a closer look at the unstoppable local kid named Sherif, they went home impressed. However, there was a different name on everyone's lips that day; Mohamed Salah.

Much like the accidental discovery of LiverpoolGillette frontman Tom Grennan never intended to produce the biggest hit track of his career when he agreed to be the voice of Gillette's new ad campaign in 2023. “And now,” Grennan admitted: 90min With a sad tone in his voice, “Gillette's song became my biggest hit.”

The Coventry City fan has revealed that his re-imagined version of The Best A Man Can Get will never be released on its own merits. After nearly two years of runaway success, lodged in the minds of anyone who comes across the Gillette ad, which often plays before and during halftime of televised football games, the song has taken on a new life of its own.

Gillette and Greenan have partnered with Art of Football, a popular clothing brand that specializes in producing designs inspired by the beautiful game, to release a football jersey inspired by the Gillette song.

All profits generated from the sale of this fantastic design – which is now available at a recommended price of £60 – will go directly to Football Beyond Borders (FBB). This esteemed charity supports young people from socially and economically disadvantaged areas. These individuals are passionate about soccer but are dropping out of school, so FBB's fleet of talented employees helps them finish school with the skills and grades needed to make a successful transition into adulthood.

Grennan admits he's obsessed with football – and takes away a childhood spent rooting for him Manchester United to support his local club Coventry – and spent time at several professional academies in his youth.

The hugely popular musician shrugged his shoulders, saying: “I'm a failed footballer.”

“The real honest truth is that I wasn't good enough, unfortunately. I was a realist from an early age. And I realized that and I had to choose a different path and a different journey. And I'm so glad I chose the right journey.”

This journey led to a career as a multi-platinum selling artist, and Greenan now intends to use his wide-ranging platform to help those less fortunate.

“I met the two young men involved with FBB and just to see and hear their stories and see how well they are doing, and just to know what their charity does for young boys and girls around football and in the world communities, they make a difference,” he gushed. “And now in partnership with Gillette, I know how important that is to Gillette and to me, and that's what we hope this shirt will do.”
