Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon has insisted he never wanted to leave St James' Park after a summer of intense speculation over his future.

“I'm only 23 years old. All I heard was, 'When is he leaving?' Who said I was leaving? I'm very happy here, I love this place, I love playing football here and I think Bruno (Guimarães) and Alex (Isak) are thinking the same thing.
“But we're all young, we're all human, so if people talk about it, it kind of questions our character. It's hard.”
