Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is looking forward to facing National League side Tamworth in the FA Cup this weekend.

Tottenham travel to the lowest-ranked team in the competition, with one of the biggest upsets in the history of the competition on the cards.

But despite playing a much weaker opponent than the team they beat on Wednesday, Postecoglou admits he won't be able to rotate often and is taking the FA Cup seriously.

Speaking to the media, he said: “I still think it's a really important competition. It involves almost every level of football, and there are always great stories within it.

“There have already been such stories in the first rounds of the cup, and we are facing a team that has reached the first rounds.

“I still think the final day of the cup is a landmark day in the world football calendar. I feel it's a really important tournament and maintains the right kind of tradition.

“Certainly in my eyes, I see it as a very important part of the calendar.”

“I have no doubts about the attitude of the players. All the boys have a great understanding of the importance of each game. We will go into Sunday's game with the same mentality of making sure we do things we can control and being very focused on the things we do well.

“There are always challenges out there. I'm sure Tamworth will think it's a great opportunity for them and we have to be ready for that.”

Tottenham will move from one end of the football pyramid to the other in a matter of days.

During the week, they beat Liverpool 1-0 in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final, inflicting Arne Slott's first away defeat of the season.

Now, they must adapt to a team looking to create a lifelong memory by toppling one of the Premier League's giants.

“They are not million-dollar players,” Postecoglou added. They are very understanding human beings. They are good people. Most of them came from places like that, some even worse.

“They will go out there and respect the fact that Tamworth are going to be building the stadium for probably the biggest game of their lives. And I'm sure they will do everything they can to create an atmosphere in which they can be proud of their ground and their facility.”

“I don't really think this is a problem for us. The important thing for us is to prepare for an important match in the cup.”
