Tottenham's season is in crisis with pressure mounting on Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham's 3-2 defeat to Everton left them in 15th place in the Premier League table – closer to the relegation zone than the European positions.

The loss, which saw Postecoglou's side go down 3-0 at half-time to a side who had scored 15 goals in 20 games previously, was Tottenham's 12th defeat of the season and continued a dismal run of victories against bottom club Southampton. – In the last 10 matches.

The scores of defeats Spurs have suffered this season are the most they have suffered after 22 league games in more than a quarter of a century – while they have only managed nine Premier League wins in the past nine months – and have lost 24 of their 50 matches.

So, what's next for Postecoglou and Tottenham before a busy end to January on and off the pitch? Sky Sports News' Michael Bridge explains all…

Is Postecoglou under a lot of pressure?

My understanding is that he is not under any extreme pressure. I think there is pressure because they are 15th in the league. For them, it is unacceptable.

But Postecoglou said so himself. He also said, and he is right, that they are still in three cup competitions, but their position in the league is unacceptable.

So, there is pressure. But in terms of his job security, I think he still has the full support of the board.

Jamie Carragher gives his opinion on Tottenham's poor form

But the next three or four weeks define Tottenham's season. If the likes of Micky van de Ven and Christian Romero return in the next few weeks, they could qualify for the last 16 of the Europa League, they could reach the Carabao Cup final, and they could beat Aston Villa in the FA Cup.

Then you turn around and say, actually, this could be a good season.

However, they could lose to Hoffenheim in Europe on Thursday, falling out of the top eight, after which they have two more games to reach the latter stages of the Europa League. They could lose at Anfield in the Carabao Cup second leg and could go out to Villa.

If that happens, it could be a tough few months until May.

Why is the council giving it this time?

I think there is an acceptance that these injuries are seriously holding the team back. They're not just weird injuries, they're bad injuries.

People can blame him for the style of play that led to hamstring injuries. You can't blame Postecoglou when Dominic Solanke kicked the ball in training and his knee moved.

Postecoglou has been saying to me and his teammates over the past two or three weeks: Dom needs help. And now Dom is hurt.

It's January 20 and no overseas players have been signed. Yes, January is tough, but he really needs some help now.

Will Postecoglou get this support in the January transfer market?

Speaking after the 3-2 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League, Postecoglou claimed that Tottenham need to be active in the transfer window in order to help deal with their injury crisis.

I think so. They have to bring in players. January is not easy, but it is achievable. The Spurs had some good windows in January.

For example, Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur were players signed in January and are now Tottenham's best players. So it could happen.

But European clubs are not keen to give up their players in January. We have European football in January now, which has never happened before.

But despite that, I still think Tottenham will bring in at least one player, but it has to happen very soon.

Where do Tottenham fans sit on Postecoglou?

A mixed assessment is probably a fair assessment at the moment after the defeat to Everton.

When he joined, I had never known love like this before. Postecoglou himself said that Tottenham Hotspur Stadium served as a nightclub. Even Robbie Williams started singing songs about him.

And then, they had a bad run when they played that Chelsea game, that 4-1 defeat on Monday Night Football. The season was derailed after that and Postecoglou never really got it back.

Many fans believe that this is not his fault and that he was not supported. They feel like the team isn't good enough, they need money, they need to recruit better.

Ex-Spurs players Ramon Vega and Jamie O'Hara debate whether Spurs' problems stem more from Ange Postecoglou or Daniel Levy.

While some fans are upset that he only has one way to play. Some feel the injuries are getting to him, and they are unhappy with the high line and open midfield.

Some feel he is stubborn and some feel it is time for a change, but who will you bring along? We have seen that Ruben Amorim is unsure about joining the club midway through the season with a lot of work to do.

Daniel Levy sacked Tottenham's coaches midway through last season, what would that look like?

I don't know if the fans will accept a temp like Ryan Mason, as happened the last two times. With the rumblings I hear, I don't think they will accept it.

Postecoglou still maintains a good relationship with the Tottenham management. The head of football operations is Scott Moon, an Australian and Anji supporter.

Postecoglou works very well with Johan Lange, the Tottenham manager. But the next three to four weeks will be pivotal for Tottenham's season.

If Postecoglou is sacked soon, where will that leave Daniel Levy with Tottenham fans?

Speaking earlier in the season, Jamie Carragher said he was a supporter of Tottenham owner Daniel Levy but there had to be someone else in charge. Jamie Redknapp said Levy's 14 managers cannot all be the problem

I don't think Daniel Levy personally wants to rush into sacking another coach.

But if he does, it will cause the final months of the season to be very tense at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in terms of atmosphere.

Tottenham are full of injuries at the moment, is there any explanation as to why?

There is no doubt that given Tottenham's style of play, there is that risk.

I also think poor recruitment has affected the club. I look at the team and I don't consider them to be in the top six at the moment.

I think, in fairness to Postecoglou, he probably didn't give himself enough credit when they finished fifth in the first season without Harry Kane.

Tottenham spent several seasons playing poorly, winning 1-0 with a Kane Thunderbolt strike. They have become overly dependent on him. They didn't have it last season, and they still had a good season.

This season you have seen a number of injuries and poor performances, so the likes of Heung-Min Son, who has had a tough season, are a year older.

And one of the most disappointing facts is that I don't think, and maybe it's a collective responsibility, they haven't really planned for the extra European games.

Last season, Tottenham were not in Europe. They were knocked out of the FA Cup. They were knocked out of the Carabao Cup in the second round. So they basically only had about 42 games.

This year, they have already played their 34th game. They have two more European matches this month. They have a Carabao Cup second leg. They won the FA Cup.
