The dismissal took place in the fifth over of the Adelaide Strikers innings at Adelaide Oval. Jason Behrendorff tossed the ball back to Jake Weatherald, who tried to fire it up the middle. However, Tai had other plans, as he placed himself perfectly in the middle.
In a display of astonishing athleticism and reflexes, Andrew Tye made a stunning leap in the middle of the field, extending his right hand to catch the ball out of the air. Ty landed safely with the ball in hand, grabbing the ball to complete the stunning catch to ensure Weatherald was out.
Jake Weatherald's powerful shot attempt saw him dismissed for 8 runs off 8 balls, with one boundary to his name. However, it was Andrew Tye's impressive effort that stole the show in the first innings of the 2024-25 BBL match despite being an expensive player for the Perth Scorchers.

Adelaide Strikers vs Perth Scorchers match summary
The Adelaide Strikers have had a tough start, hitting 58 for 8 at home. However, a resilient ninth-wicket partnership of 84* runs between Cameron John Boyce (29* off 22 balls) and Brendan Doggett (47* off 39 balls) helped them reach a competitive total of 142/8 in 20 overs.
Perth's chase started poorly, with Matty Hurst losing and Aaron Hardy Early on, they were both dismissed for two runs by Henry Thornton. However, Finn Allen and Josh Connolly enlivened the innings with aggressive batting. Connolly's unbeaten 48 off 35 balls kept the chase on track.

After winning Man of the Match, Cooper Connolly said: “They crawled back well. We were happy at the halfway mark. It was good to get some runs. We were hoping Allen would get a run.
