Fans of the Christmas classic It's a Wonderful Life are outraged by the shortened version of the film that Amazon is offering on its streaming service.

The 1946 hit film follows the life of businessman and banker George Bailey. It sparked anger After Amazon cut a pivotal part.

Amazon's shortened version does not include what many consider the “most important scene,” known as the “Pottersville scene,” in which George wishes he had never been born, prompting his guardian angel to remind him that he needed to win over his “angel.” “Wings.” Angry fans said this scene sets up the rest of the movie, and without it, the movie suddenly jumps between scenes without the full context of the story.

In the original version of the film, George tells his guardian angel, Clarence, that he believes it is better to die than to live, but Clarence explains to George that he does not know everything he has done in his life. He proceeds to show George what his city would be like if it weren't for all his good deeds over the years. The alternate reality helps George realize that he is Wonderful life.

However, in the Amazon Prime film version, details of what led to his change of attitude towards his life were left out. Instead, after the angel tells George that he must earn his wings, the scene switches to George running through the streets happily after realizing the value of his life.

Amazon Prime also offers the full version of the film on its platform and the scene may have been removed due to a copyright dispute regarding the scene that was adapted from a short story. The Daily Mail reported. But fans of the film are still not satisfied with the adaptation.

“Just watched 'It's a Wonderful Life – The Short Version' with my mother who doesn't remember the whole movie. What an abomination,” One X user said. “The whole point of the story was for George to witness life without being in it. Eliminating that part of the plot entirely makes this movie meaningless.”

“I accidentally watched the abridged version of her amazing life that honestly shouldn't exist. Like what's the point of that????” A second X user said.

“Get ready for the 'shortened' version of It's a Wonderful Life, which ditches the whole Pottersville/what it would be like if he'd never been born story and goes straight to him being totally fine again for no apparent reason,” said a third user. “This exists and it's on Prime.”

“If you want to know what's wrong with the world, Prime Video has an 'abridged' version of It's a Wonderful Life that removes the entire Potterville scene where George sees life if he had never been born. That's all it's abridged. Best of all, it's just a crucial part of the movie . Another viewer said.

“I'm not kidding, but Amazon Prime is playing a version of this movie with that entire sequence removed – completely edited – to make it less 'dark.'” Actor Michael Warburton He said on X.
