Mason Mount suffered another blow when he was forced off injured after just 14 minutes of Sunday's Manchester derby.

Mount has been suffering from injuries since joining United from Chelsea in the summer of 2023, and has missed 30 matches so far (per Transfer market) with various problems in the hamstrings and calves.

As a result, the attacking midfielder has fallen out of favor with England, despite making 36 appearances for his country so far, appearing in the Euro 2020 finals and the 2022 World Cup quarter-finals.

However, Mount has been on his way back to some form of form recently, having played in six of them unitedThe last eight games he managed until one hour against Arsenal in the Premier League and Bodø/Glimt in the Europa League.

Mount was named in the starting lineup for the derby match between United and Manchester City on Sunday.

However, after just 14 minutes and nine touches of the ball, Mount was forced off the field and was replaced by Kobe Maino after walking off the field in visible discomfort.

“It's never good to lose a player 14 minutes into the game, but for Mason Mount, he's got that resigned look on his face like a player who's been in the gym rehabilitating enough,” Gary Neville said of a tearful Mount, who was consoled by United players. And his colleague in the England national team, Phil Foden, as he left the field: “It is frustrating and you feel like you are letting everyone down.”

Former England international Leon Osman said BBC Radio 5 Live: “The look on Mason Mount's face says it all. He's very disappointed. This is exactly what he didn't want.”

“He was given the opportunity by Ruben Amorim and he wanted to play a series of games. It is disappointing for him.

“Almost all the Manchester United players went up to him and embraced him. They are all disappointed by them.”
