Attorney General Merrick Garland Special Counsel Jack Smith's report on the 2020 election interference case against President-elect Trump will be released, according to a court filing.
The Justice Department told the US Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit on Wednesday that Garland intends to release the first volume of Smith's report to Congress, which covers allegations that Trump attempted to illegally undo the results of the 2020 presidential election.
However, Garland will not release the second volume, which covers the secret documents case against Trump, as two of the defendants in that case still face criminal proceedings.
