Authorities are searching for a man accused of stabbing an off-duty Atlanta police officer during a standoff following a hit-and-run over the weekend.
The incident occurred at approximately six o'clock on Saturday evening DeKalb County, Georgiawhen a hit-and-run accident occurred on Interstate 20 East near Panola Road.
In the crash, the driver of a Dodge Charger collided with a Chevy Silverado before leaving the scene, the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office said on FOX 5 Atlanta.
The Silverado driver, later identified as an off-duty Atlanta police officer, followed the Charger's driver to Rockdale County to collect license plate information.

The two drivers pulled into the parking lot, where a verbal confrontation occurred. The fight escalated and the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Justin Perry Hurst, allegedly attacked He stabbed the officer Several times.
Hurst fled the scene and has not yet been located.
His last known vehicle was a white 2019 VW Passat with Georgia tag CWC3082. He is considered armed and dangerous and has ties to the Alpharetta area.
Atlanta police said the officer was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for treatment. He was awake, conscious and breathing, and was later released from the hospital.
Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Local law enforcement. A bonus of up to $2,000 is available.

“While the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office is leading this investigation, the Atlanta Police Department stands with them to ensure the suspect is apprehended,” Atlanta Police said in a statement. “We ask anyone with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts to contact CrimeStoppers or the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office.”
