M. Night Shyamalan is one of the worst directors ever to step behind the camera, or a creative genius, depending on who you ask, and which movie you're talking about, but no one can argue with the success of his first film. Sixth sense. Now, as he chooses one daughter, Salica Knight, trapHis youngest daughter, Ishaana Knight, went behind the camera in her first feature film, Observerswhich recently debuted on Netflix. In keeping with family tradition, the film has divided the horror community, with opinions almost completely divided, but even detractors acknowledge that Ishana possesses some of her father's talent.

Captive crew

Observers

Horror movie features Dakota Fanning Like Mina, an American traveling through Belfast, whose car breaks down in a creepy forest where an equally creepy woman asks her to come with her if she wants to live. The woman, Madeleine (played by Olwen Foyre, who recently appeared in… Tarot), brings Mina to a hideout connected to The Coop, a structure with a one-way window that allows strange beings, called Watchers, to watch her every night. Observers is a possible metaphor for My neighbor on Netflix or crowded reality TV, but it's clear that the alien beings, who can't be caught in the sunlight, are dangerous and have ill intentions toward the trapped actors.

The humans, in addition to Mina and Madeleine, include Georgina Campbell (aka Barbarian) Like Ciara and Irish actor Oliver Finnegan as Daniel, they roam during the day but always return to the secure bunker and The Coop every night to perform for the Watchers. With a limited cast and locations ranging from The Coop to The Woods and Another Corner of the Woods, it may seem that way Observers It was a low-budget Netflix original, when in fact it was entirely self-financed M. Night Shyamalan. This fact means that no matter how creepy or terrifying the premise is, and there are few good scares to be found, some people have made up their minds about the film long before the film hits theaters.

The problem of nepotism cannot be avoided

Dakota Fanning in Observers

Nepotism has become a major issue in Hollywood recently, although it has been present in every industry since the dawn of time, but very few directors can get their first film fully financed from their father to the tune of $30 million. That right there means that Observers It has faced an uphill battle for attention on its own merits, and while it hasn't been a major theatrical hit, it has been in the top 10 on Netflix since its debut on the world's largest streaming platform.

Long before his success Netflix, Observers It was a book by AM Shine, and as I moved from page to page, there were some major changes. For example, the book never describes what the Watchers look like, while the movie eventually shows them in all their terrifying glory, and oddly enough, it's the book that is a sequel, not the movie. There are other changes as well, but in true Shyamalan fashion, there is a twist in the story.

Observers Currently available on Netflix, while you can watch M. Night's other daughter perform trap on Top. There is no denying that nepotism had a hand in both projects, but it is also true that there are far worse horrors today, such as the aforementioned TarotAnd really, both films are worth your time to watch and judge for yourself.
