Finally, Netflix's most adored couple is about to say “I do” — and their wedding will be the can't-miss event of Season 6. “It's been six seasons in the making,” showrunner Patrick Sean Smith said exclusively. Us Weekly ahead of Season 6, which premieres on Netflix on Thursday, December 19.

Despite them trying to date other people, Season 5's Christmas episodes proved that there were still some major sparks between them. When Season 6 premiered on Thursday, December 19, viewers watched as the two exes gave in to their desires and slept together on a pool table in Jack's bar.

“I feel like the tension is building (between them),” Allen said of the shocking tryst between the pair. “There are a lot of sparks between them. Even if they don't talk, they're dating other people. It's always there.”

“I think people will like it,” she added, smiling.

While the intimate moment certainly came as a surprise when reading the script, Allen said she and Hollingsworth, 40, were completely on board after a period of not working together.

“We were so excited to have such a beautiful and exciting scene,” she explained. “And I think what that scene does for me — besides being so sexy and steamy and the Bree and Brady chemistry that we all know and love — is that the writers gave them a moment to acknowledge that neither of them felt worthy of love.”

Allen pointed out the complications of the moment between the former two, noting that Brady — who had just discovered that his girlfriend was trying to steal his money behind his back — was facing the repercussions of Lark's “betrayal.” She added that both characters come from a “very low place of self-worth.”

As for actually filming the scene — which was one of the show's most memorable moments in its six seasons — Allen said she and Hollingsworth were completely at ease because the pair have had the “pleasure” of working together for four seasons now.

“And our first scene ever together was a kissing scene,” she said with a laugh. “So we've felt safe with each other from the beginning. I'm really grateful for that. I think we both are alike. There's just a certain line of respect.”

Allen also revealed that the scene changed over time, with the original script setting the location in Brody's room above Jack's bar – the same room where Bree lived – rather than on the pool table in the basement. But Allen and Hollingsworth had a different idea.

“Ben and I read it and were talking about it and he said, 'Man, we've already seen scenes there.' I'm like, “I know.” “And we were kind of messing around,” she recalled. Then Ben said, “What about the pool table?” I was like: “Oh, this is scandalous!” “Let's put it out there,” he said. So we did and they went for it. And I'm so happy because I think he's kind of an icon!

The aftermath of their betrayal was a major focal point of season six. Brady – who dumped Lark for betraying him only to get her back – confessed his undying love for Bree at Mel and Jack's wedding while Lark eavesdropped on the conversation. Meanwhile, Bree confessed her secret to Mike, who responded by revealing that he knew about the affair from the beginning before he got down on one knee to propose.

The credits rolled before Bree could make up her mind, but Allen told her us qThe Answer can expect Season 7 to focus largely on her “struggle” with whether she made the right decision – whatever that may be.

“A lot of us know what it's like to make a decision based on logic and analysis and say, 'This is why I should do something or be with this person,'” she said. “And then there's this kind of thing that's undeniable, this chemistry that doesn't die overnight.” Overnight.” “It's hard to reconcile what it is. I don't think everything will be wrapped in a bow.

So, where does Allen stand when it comes to her character's future? Brie and Brady have been a fan-favorite couple from the jump, after all. “I'll be walking down the street and all of a sudden a stranger will yell, 'Team Brady!'” Allen said with a laugh.

However, many of Allen's colleagues feel differently. Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin HendersonFor example, they both said we Earlier this month they thought Mike was the best choice. For her part, Allen remains hesitant.

“Brie needs to get real with herself,” she explained. “I think she had an old identity that was still there, too. The one that was really good at everything, was amazing at her job. Nothing could top her. And then that huge betrayal with her sexual assault with her ex-husband turned her sense of self upside down. I think That she's still trying to cling to an old sense of herself so, until she can start to come to terms with who she is now, and ease up, it won't be clear to any of us.

No matter where Bree goes in Season 7 and beyond, Allen is fully prepared for the journey — “This is my girl,” she joked — and she's embracing the lessons she's learned from Bree along the way.

“As cliché as it sounds, I always like to think that roles choose me because no matter how that character emerges in this shifting realm, they are going to need some of my qualities to help them through their journey,” she explained. “On the contrary, I need some of what they have to offer.”

Virgin River fans can expect more romance and fun when the show returns for season six. “I think my intention was not for the subsequent seasons to match the intensity of Season 5,” showrunner Patrick Sean Smith told The Hollywood Reporter in December 2023. “I would say that going into season six, my intention (…)

She continued: “I think Berry is much stronger than me in many ways. I'm a little softer and I wear my heart on my sleeve more. And I think Bree could use some of that, you know, where she'll be really self-sufficient and pay for herself. I think her weakness is her strength and also the thing she fears will make her weak. And so I think maybe I'll bring more to that character as we grow together. And then I had to borrow from what I've learned from Bree over the years in terms of being more of an advocate for myself.

“It helped me strengthen myself,” Allen explained. “And I really appreciate that.”
