Dominique Bellicot was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison for drugging and raping his ex-wife Giselle and inviting dozens of men to assault her over the course of nearly a decade, among other charges.
Bellicot had admitted the charges against him.
He was on trial with 50 other men, most of whom denied rape charges. The court in the French city of Avignon convicted 47 of the men of rape, two of attempted rape, and two of sexual assault.
The defendants now have 10 days to appeal.
Most of these 50 come from towns and villages located within a 50-kilometre (30-mile) radius of the Balikots' Mazan village.
