A Florida mother and business owner were reportedly killed in the process Trying to stop shoplifters at her beauty supply store, leaving behind two daughters and a husband just weeks before Christmas.
Elson Miriam Kim, 64, was trying to stop two thieves at her Beauty Max store, in Jacksonville, Florida, On the evening of December 6, before the robbers killed her with their car.
“Two subjects entered the business, one of them took several items and fled the store with the items,” said Sgt. Steve Rudloff with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said News 4 Jax. “A store employee followed this person to her car which was ready for this person.”
Rudlaff told the outlet that at least three suspects were involved — two entered the store and one drove the getaway car. One of the suspects got into the car with the stolen items, while the third suspect left on foot.

Kim was taken to the hospital after she was hit by the car, but she died from her injuries.
Kim's husband said the store already had a recurring theft problem, but a nearby business owner said that this time, the victim finally had enough and decided to take action by chasing down the suspects. According to Action News Jax.
“She has worked alongside her husband for most of her life, but Beauty Max was the first business she owned independently,” her family told the outlet in a statement, in part. “We don’t know exactly why she decided to confront the thieves, but the store has witnessed thefts in the recent past.”
Her family added that someone had the “audacity” to steal from the store the day after Kim's death.

He added, “The Kim family is strong and proud, and Elson was a true mother and they must now learn how to deal with life without her.”
