An active shooter situation at Fort Eisenhower Army Base Augusta, GeorgiaOn Saturday, one person was killed, officials said.

The base was closed shortly before 9 a.m. local time on Saturday, with an announcement made via social media to more than 110,000 people living on the base.

The base, formerly known as Fort Gordon, said information about the person who was shot will be released after their next of kin are notified.
