British actress Gemma Arterton disagrees with the idea of James Bond swapping sex, believing moviegoers would find it “outrageous”.
In a recent interview with a UK outlet, The timesArterton pointed out that portraying James Bond as a woman is absurd on its face.
“Isn't a female James Bond like Mary Poppins played by a man?” I wondered. “They talk about it, but I think people would find it absolutely outrageous.”

Arterton played the role of British Secret Service agent Strawberry Fields in the James Bond film “Quantum of Solace” in 2008, the second in the series starring Daniel Craig. She insisted that Hollywood should respect the character's legacy and not choose to change.
“Sometimes you just have to respect tradition,” she said.
Reshaping the titular character's identity has been a popular topic in Hollywood circles in recent years, with producers considering changing up the franchise's formula following Craig's recent role as a spy in 2021's “No Time to Die.”

Bond producer Barbara Broccoli has expressed her openness to having James Bond played by an actor of a different race. Idris Elba, the African-American British actor, has been a long-time favorite for the legendary role, although recently Rule out doing so.
However, Broccoli has poured cold water on the idea of a female James Bond.

Arterton told The Times she was confused as to why she was still associated with the “Bond Girl” moniker, given that her role in the 2008 film was very small — her character was killed off just minutes after she was introduced.
