Kudrow commented on the overall plot, adding: “For me, the goal is always for it to be entertaining and for it to be something that you look forward to seeing and continuing to watch.”

Paul Morgan
When No Good Deed started, Paul was focused on selling his and Lydia's house. He was more motivated when Mickey (Denis Leary) – who turned out to be his brother – began threatening him in exchange for money. Viewers slowly learned that Paul sought Mickey's help when he found his son Jacob dead. Mickey covered it up but after going to prison for a different crime, he wanted compensation for the secrets he was keeping to Paul.
Throughout the season, Paul tried to get Mickey back in prison. He switched gears when Lydia briefly showed up to kill Mikey. But when Mickey turned out to be okay, Paul locked him in a secret room in the house and kept him prisoner. By the end of the season, Paul and Lydia's marriage was falling apart over the secrets they kept. they They were able to work things out though When Lydia saw Paul talking to their son about his desire to mend their relationship.
Once Paul and Lydia found out who really killed their son, they were able to sell their house and start over.
Lydia Morgan
The first season focused largely on Lydia's grief and how the guilt resulting from Jacob's death contributed to her declining mental health. Lydia began to have reservations about selling her house as soon as she noticed the lights flickering on and off in Jacob's room – something she took as a sign that her son was still sending her letters.
Lydia's determination led to Mickey's death which turned out to be a false alarm. She then crossed paths with her neighbor Margo. That brief friendship fell apart as soon as Lydia She realized that Margo had set up her teenage son Then kill him. After connecting the pieces, Lydia was able to start playing the piano again and reconnect with her daughter.
Margo Starling
No Good Deed presented Margo as a woman in a loveless marriage looking to move on. Margo was also one of the people interested in the Morgan house, which she tried to manipulate her husband, J.D., into buying for them. As the series unfolded, it became clear that Margo had spread a lot of lies. She didn't tell J.D. that she grew up poor and deliberately pursued him so they could get married and she could access his money.

Carla and Dennis
Carla was one of the potential spouses vying for Morgan's estate (Teyonah parris(and denise)OT Fagbenle). They were weeks away from welcoming their first child after tying the knot earlier that year, just months after their first meeting. Carla struggled to adjust to her new normal which left Dennis's mother very involved in his life.
After Denise's mother tried to buy the house with them, Carla made an offer to buy another house with money from her estranged father. Carla and Dennis eventually reconsidered and went back to running for Morgan's house but they were not the ones who got it. By the end of the season, Carla and Dennis have become new parents and have reconciled with her father off-screen. The only issue? Little did Carla know that her father had sent her a huge check that Dennis had cashed. Instead, Dennis He lied that he got it from He sells his new book and now Carla's father has been sending him threatening letters.
Leslie and Sarah
The other couple who were trying to get the Morgan house were Leslie (Abbi Jacobson(And Sarah)Poppy Leo).
