Kylian Mbappe will miss Real Madrid's visit to Rayo Vallecano in the league this weekend, but could be available for next week's Intercontinental Cup final.
The French striker scored a goal against Atalanta in the Champions League in midweek before limping off.
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said on Friday that he has some good news, as midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is ready to return to the team after recovering from a hamstring injury.
“Kylian is not serious, he will not be here tomorrow, but he will travel to Qatar (for the Intercontinental Cup final on Wednesday) and there, we will assess the risks. Camavinga is fine, he is available for tomorrow's match,” Ancelotti told reporters.
Mbappe, who moved to the Santiago Bernabeu from French champions Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in June, is Real Madrid's top scorer in La Liga with nine goals in 15 matches.
“In the last few breaks he has been here, resting, working… you never know. Fortunately he will only be out for a short period and will not lose what he has achieved recently,” Ancelotti said.
Real Madrid, in second place, has 36 points from 16 matches, and is two points behind leaders Barcelona, who have played a match more.
After losing 2-1 to Athletic Bilbao in La Liga, Real Madrid bounced back with a 3-0 win over Girona, followed by a Champions League win over Atalanta.
Ancelotti said that the victory over Atalanta, the top of the Italian League table, was an important moment.
“We came off a difficult night. There was a lot of commitment and attitude. Teamwork. It was a complete match that adds optimism, of course,” the Italian added.
“Wednesday is very important, but at the moment we are only thinking about tomorrow.”
