Buzzfeed has announced that it has officially sold the company behind YouTube's “Hot Ones” show to a company Funded by George Soros Affiliate.
In a press release on Thursday, Buzzfeed revealed that it has closed the sale of media company First We Feast to a consortium led by an affiliate of Soros Fund Management LLC for $82.5 million. The sale concludes months of efforts to sell the company and Pay off millions of debts.
“The sale of First We Feast and the continued reduction of our convertible debt represents an important step At BuzzFeed, Inc “Strategic transformation into a media company capable of taking full advantage of the ongoing AI revolution,” said Jonah Peretti, Founder and CEO of BuzzFeed.
He continued: “In the coming years, we will continue to invest in our more scalable, technology-enabled services, launch new interactive experiences powered by artificial intelligence, and provide services to our loyal audience and business partners.”

First We Feast is best known for producing “Hot Ones,” a long-running YouTube talk show in which host Sean Evans asks celebrity interview questions between rounds of increasingly spicy chicken wings.
Past guests have included “Gladiator II” star Paul Mescal, pop star Sabrina Carpenter and late-night TV host Jimmy Fallon. Interviews are routine. Evans' interview with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay currently has over 129 million views.

Other buyers in the deal include Mythical Entertainment and Crooked Media, which was founded by former Obama administration staffers. Received investment From Soros Fund management in 2022.
First We Feast is expected to retain its management team including founder Chris Schoenberger.

“Hot Ones” is expected to continue with Evans optimistic about the future.
