The White House said in a statement that the goal of the strategy is to “address the bias, discrimination, and threats that Muslims and Arab Americans have long faced,” noting that threats against Muslim and Arab communities in the United States have increased over the past year.
“In October 2023, 6-year-old Wadih al-Fayoumi, a Muslim American boy of Palestinian descent, was brutally murdered in his home in Illinois, and over the past year, there have been other serious attacks on Muslim and Arab Americans.” The statement said.

The White House noted that President Biden created an interagency group in December 2022 to combat anti-Semitism and Islamophobia. Last year, the administration released its first-ever national strategy to combat anti-Semitism.

The strategy to combat Islamophobia will focus on raising awareness about anti-Arab hatred, improving safety, addressing discrimination, accommodating religious practices, and building solidarity between communities.
