Trump was named 2024 Person of the Year by Time magazine
President-elect Donald Trump was named Time Magazine's 2024 Person of the Year on Thursday morning. The Fox & Friends co-hosts react to the announcement and what they call the Trump effect as a majority of Americans are optimistic heading into the new year.
Former CNN anchor Don Lemon slammed Time magazine as a “joke” after revelations about President-elect Donald Trump Their overall personality.
Lemon hosted a TikTok Live where he referenced the long-running post honoring Trump after he won the 2024 presidential election and overcame criminal convictions and assassination attempts.
“For orchestrating a comeback of historic proportions, for leading a once-in-a-generation political realignment, and for reshaping the American presidency and changing America’s role in the world, Donald Trump won the 2024 Time Person of the Year award,” the magazine wrote.
Lemon was angry about the decision, and attacked the magazine for choosing someone who he said did not stand for democracy.

“If they wanted to make someone Person of the Year, I don't know, they could have done it with anyone. They could have done it with someone who actually stands up for democracy, stands up for democracy in the country.” Lemon said.
Although Time magazine has named the winner of the presidential election as Person of the Year every election season since 2000, Lemon insisted that serving as president does not automatically make someone eligible for the title.
“Time Magazine, what are you doing? Let me ask you, Time Magazine, what are you saying to these women who I think still read Time Magazine?” Lemon asked.
“You have someone on the cover of your magazine who is a convicted felon,” he continued. “You have someone who inspired an insurrection. We have someone who, without a doubt, the evidence is there, tried to overturn a free and fair election. You had someone who had multiple criminal accounts and was convicted of multiple criminal charges. And name them Person of the Year.”

“Is this a joke? Did we do something wrong? Did someone scam us? Are we sure about this, producers? There's a convicted felon on the cover of Time magazine's Person of the Year. Maybe we're being scammed.” Did someone post a fake tweet or something, I don’t know,” Lemon finished.
Trump was also named Person of the Year after winning the 2016 presidential election. Time magazine wrote that since his campaign, Trump has completely restructured “the course of politics.”

“Since he began running for president in 2015, perhaps no individual has played a greater role in changing the course of politics and history than Trump,” Time wrote. He added: “Trump is once again at the center of the world, and in the same strong position he was in before.”
Other Time Magazine finalists this year include Harris, Billionaire Elon Musk – who was named Person of the Year for 2021 – podcast giant Joe Rogan, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Last year's person was pop star Taylor Swift, who just wrapped up her record-breaking “Eras” concert tour.
