Promoter Frank Warren is said to be of the opinion that an Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury trilogy will happen before the showdown between Fury and Anthony Joshua, provided the Gypsy King is victorious on December 21.
Warren He said talkSport expects a Usyk-Fury trilogy to take place before Fury faces Joshua. It would make sense for Fury (34-1-1, 24 KO) to immediately fight Usyk in a trilogy if he wins the rematch on Dec. 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, Fury will likely lose that fight.
Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) had Fury's number in their previous fight on May 18 and was one punch away from knocking him out in the ninth round. Fury's recent physical appearance suggests that he is not at his best, believing he can fight his way to victory in a rematch on December 21.
If Usyk defeats Fury again, it will be bad for the Gypsy King, and he may need to start thinking about retirement. If His Excellency Turki Al-Sheikh is still interested in a fight between Fury and Joshua, it will be difficult to sell him without Tyson redeeming himself against a world-class contender.
Joshua, 35, was destroyed by Daniel Dubois in a fifth-round knockout on September 21, and looked terrible in that fight.
