Lisandro Martinez will be absent for the rest of the season after Manchester United confirmed that the defender had damaged the cruciate ligament in the defeat of a house on Sunday against Crystal Palace.

The international Argentina was implemented on a weekend stretch, and although United has not specified the time when it will leave, most ACL injuries require a rehabilitation period of at least six months.

This time frame will mean that Martinez will return during the summer and must be fit for the beginning of the next season.

A unified statement wrote: “Manchester United can confirm that Lisandro Martinez was injured in the cruciate ligament in Sunday match against Crystal Palace.

“Infection evaluation is continuing to determine the appropriate path for treatment and time measurement to rehabilitate it.

“Everyone in Manchester United wishes Lisandro Martinez the power of a successful recovery and we will support him every step on the road.”

Martinez has been one of the few constants in a united defense that was cut and changed throughout the season due to the problems of shape and fitness.

The former Ajax man was playing well and scored the winner as United won 1-0 in Fulham on January 26.
