Aymara elders, or amautas, in Bolivia refuse to leave their homes in El Alto even though they are just feet away from a fatal fall.
Locals call the huts on the edge of the cliff “suicide houses” because of the great risks to which residents are exposed.
The structures are becoming increasingly unstable due to heavy rains and the effects of global warming.
City authorities have warned residents about the erosion of the cliff and are planning forced evacuation if necessary.
