Simona Halep announced its retirement after being defeated in its first match in 2025.
The previous world No. 1 made its season in its home event, which is Transylvania Open, in Romania on Tuesday, after it got a land card.
But the Grand Slam champion only won only two games, as Lucia Bronzeti, Italy, achieved a 6-1 6-1 victory in only 59 minutes.
Speaking in an interview with court, Halep said: “Tonight, I do not know whether it's a joy or sadness, I think that each of the feelings try me but I make this decision with my soul.
“I have always been realistic with myself and with my body.
“Where were you, very difficult to get there and know what to get there. For this reason I wanted to come here today in a dog to play in front of you and say goodbye.
“Although my performance was not very good, my soul is still my soul and I am very happy because you came, and I will wonder if I would return again. But this is the last time you played here and I do not want to cry.
“It is a beautiful thing. I have become the number 1 world, I won the big symbolic championships, all I wanted. Life continues, there is life after tennis and I hope we see each other again.
“I will come to tennis here as much as I can and of course I will continue to play – but to be able to compete, it takes much more than that, and at this moment it is no longer the case.”
Halep, who received a four -year doping ban on nine months due to a polluted supplement, the last time he competed in the Tennis Tennis Federation in October in Hong Kong.
The 33 -year -old also played at an exhibition event in Abu Dhabi in December, but then withdrew from qualifying to the Australian Open, indicating the pain in her knee and shoulder.
