Five men were sentenced to death by their suspension in the Nigerian state of Kano for killing a woman in 2023, who accused her of magic.
Men attacked the eternity of Abu Bakr, 67, while working on her farm, beating her and stabbing her to death.
The family of Mrs. Abu Bakr went to the authorities and the suspects were quickly arrested in a village 45 km (28 miles) from Kano – the largest city in northern Nigeria.
The case gained attention throughout the country and sparked discussions on how people continued to be killed in rural areas after magic accusations.
Those who make claims without any evidence believe that those who are accused of being responsible for the death of a family, illness or ordeal.
Judge Othman Naaba said that Judge Othman Naab said that the prosecution proved his case against the five men, without doubt.
Public Prosecutor, Abu Surondiki, said he hoped to deter other ruling from illegal charges and then take matters with their hands.
The court heard that the victim was killed after she was the sick wife of one of the accused, Abdel Aziz Yahaya, a dream that she was followed by Mrs. Abu Bakr, who was carrying a knife.
Then Yahaia organized a group to confront Mrs. Abu Bakr, which led to her death.
“There were similar cases like this, but this is the first time that we have seen up to five people who were sentenced to death for murder for accusing him of unlawful magic,” Mr. Surondiki told the BBC.
The son of the victim, Moses, Yahaia, said that the day when his mother was killed is the worst day in his life and that he was happy with the vision of justice to be offered.
“I am happy that they will get the same treatment they met for my mother,” he said.
Defense lawyer Marov Yakasai said his client was planning to appeal against the verdict.
The death penalty is rarely carried out in Nigeria and often spend the rest of their lives in prison.
