Real Madrid faces the Champions League match against Manchester City with temporary central defensive pair after David Alaba suffered from another setback.
Austria international returned from his absence from 13 months due to a rupture in the AFC Champions League last month, and Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was hoping to restore it with a view available for the bilateral legs with City during the next two weeks.
But Alaba is now subject to the thigh problem that could keep it out for up to three weeks. Antonio Rudiger was injured in the knee strings against Espanyol on Saturday – the recovery schedule is the same Alaba – while Meltio Eder comes out for this season.
It is a terrible timing for Madrid, who faces going to Derby at the weekend with Atletico Madrid and both matches against City with a temporary defensive association for midfielder Aurelian Chaamini and Shab Raul Asensio.

“After the tests conducted on our player David Alaba by Real Madrid's medical services, he was diagnosed with muscle injury in the left leg,” the club statement said.

Alaba and Rudiger can miss the following games:

- ATLETICO MADRID (H) – February
- Manchester City (A) – Champions League – February 11
- Osasuna (A) – La Liga – February
- Manchester City (H) – Champions League – February 19 (doubtful)
Tchouameni and asencio to escalate
Tchouameni was forced to fill the defense several times this season, while the 21 -year -old ASENCIO appeared in 14 Madrid games, including four in the Champions League.
Madrid Leganes in Cuba del Rery faces tomorrow night, but looks forward to doing so without the presence of Bellingham and Vinicius Junior, both of whom were absent from training today and they will be drawn in a tie in the municipality of Estadio.
Ancelotti's men are still at the top of the Spanish league despite the defeat of Saturday 1-0 over Espanyol, but they are now leading one point away from Atletico and four against Barcelona.
